Carla Hughes is a former public school teacher with a Master's degree in education. Carla was framed, tried and convicted of capital murder in the death of Avis Banks and her unborn child.

DeleteI have never believed in Carla's guilt. The DA rushed to charge someone just to satisfy his reputation. Okay she got a gun,the bullets where gone that still doesn't make her a murderer. Avis' fiance killed her and framed Carla. He had just as much motive and opportunity as Carla did. Think about it it was cold and in November time of death is almost impossible to pinpoint. How can someone be charged first with accessory and when they don't give the police what they want they are upgraded to first degree murder come on. That's the oldest trick in the police tactic booklet. If she was so guilty why is it that clean up until the day of trial they were showing her Keyon's marriage license and trying to convince her he had moved on??????????? Carla is guilty of loving a man that didn't love her that's all. Even if Keyon was involved (which he very well could be), she helped conspire the crime, provided the murder weapons, and **continued** to cover up for a monster who she knew killed an innocent woman and HIS OWN unborn baby! If you ask me, justice was served just fine; her lack of humanity, obsessive tendencies, and obstruction of justice makes her a danger to society and resulted in the loss of two innocent lives!
DeleteMy prayer for her is that while she's behind bars, she regains a soul and a sound mind so she can repent to God for her sin instead of trying to get away with murder. God is allowing her to be punished while on earth - that is her mercy. However, if Keyon is involved, God is saying He will punish Keyon in a way that the world can't supply.
My heart goes out to the family and friends of all those involved. Truly tragic and unnecessary.

The Shoes that made the imprint on the home door, were found in Carla's home closet and were hers. Even tho Carla an Kelon wore the same shoe size. If Kelon wore the Shoes they could of found Kelons DNA inside the shoes. They only found Carla's. 3. Also she was a big Dummy thinking she was slick tried to return the Murder Weapon( the Gun) back to her Cousin. It was her Cousin that turned her in. DeleteFirst of all the dumb investors didn't have the shoes tested for neither Carla's or Keyon's DNA on the shoes. They only checked to see if the print on the bottom of the shoes matched the print on the door and checked for Avis' DNA.

She stalked Avis daily from behind their house on consecutive days as she drove up to get her mail from the drivers side without opening the car door. Drive into the garage and close the door. She saw her do this and planned her murder, which she did in a savage, monster like finish! Remember, Keyon was called by Avis as she was approaching her home just 9 to 12 minutes before entering it for the last time. The cell phone towers show the calls coming from all (3) and locations and times.

ReplyDeleteI saw this episode on my favorite show Forensic Files. From what I observed in the show in regards to evidence I believe that Carla Huges is a murderer. All the evidence gathered subsequently pointed to her. Obtaining the weapons from her cusion, the blood splatter on the shoes found and most importantly the cellphone calls. She wanted something she couldn't attain so instead she decided to take it, she killed Avis Banks and her unborn child (R.I.P) for a man who didn't want her. I believe Keyon wasn't involved but may have known after the fact. He too will get what he deserves remember God don't like ugly and his karma is waiting to hit him. She is exactly where she belongs.

ReplyDeleteI don't know any of the people involved with this case personally. I have known about the case for awhile and the so called facts. Honestly I believe Carla and the guy was both involved he just took advantage of her vulnerable nature and convenienced her to help him with this horrible crime while he kept his hands clean. I'm sure he played on Carla's heart strings telling her he didn't want Avis or the baby and that if Avis was out of the picture they could have a life together. I believe she did call him from the victims home around the time of the murder but I feel that was to await further instruction from him. They both should have been put in prison but he obviously played his cards right. I'm just wondering why Carla never devolved what the conversations between her and him were about that evening of the homicide I'm more than sure that information would have helped her case. Carla defiantly deserves prison time but certainly not life without parole and she certainly shouldn't have been the only one convicted for this crime to serve time alone.

She kicked in the door, leaving her shoe prints on the glass (shoes that were later found in her closet with the victims blood on them) the bullets in Avis' body match the bullets in the gun Carla borrowed from her cousin...that puts her at the scene and an active participant.The fiance had gun powder on his hands that was transferred by touching Avis when he found her in the garage, forensics proves that. We dont know what role the fiance played because Carla refused to roll on him...thats her burden to bear. She took two lives and now shes gonna die in prison where she belongs.
Reading these comments is embarrassing with all of the incorrect English and misspelled words on display. She was judged by a jury of her peers, but ultimately God will be the judge. So many speculations here.

Deletethat bitch is guilty, guilty, guilty. She deserves the sentence that she got. She wasn't framed, but the dude definitely helped her to orchestrate the murder. They just couldn't prove that he helped. She lied about the relationship she had with this man, and the murder weapon was fired from her cousin's gun that she asked to borrow. She has nobody to blame but herself.

ReplyDeleteLord have mercy on both of their souls! They were and are, both beautiful women. I am not a lawyer, by any means but the mitigation doesn't match the crime for Carla; although, I know we act foolishly in the sake of love. I wish justice for the slain and any person innocent, involving this tragedy!

I did hear that Carla called Keyon before and after the murders which means he wasn't present at the crime. Cell phone towers picked up his signal near his job. I don't think he shot the gun, but I think he and Carla planned the murder together. I'm really shocked that another woman actually married this devil.

ReplyDeleteI watched this case when it appeared on the 1 hour episode of Snapped. After that 1 hour episode I was confused how she was convicted!! It was clear to me that Keyon was the mastermind and killer of Mrs. Banks and setup Ms. Hughes to take the fall for him!

Rest in peace Mrs. Banks! Stay strong Ms. Hughes! Keyon, God will definitely take care of you if you are never prosecuted in your lifetime for the death of Mrs. Banks.
I just finished watching the episode of Snapped featuring Carla and I am very upset by the outcome.
ReplyDeleteI truly believe Carla was setup by Keyon. How was Keyon not charged when they found gun shot residue on his hands?!?! How could that possibly have been explained away?
Carla, I pray that you stay strong in prison and never give up hope of an appeal. I hope that something comes to light and you one day will be free and the true killer will be brought to justice.
And prayers for the other victims, Miss Avis and her unborn child. I hope that you will one day rest in peace when your killer is put finally behind bars.
